For consumer brands, retailers and commercial teams that need a consistent view of performance. The starting point may be a weekly sales pack, a margin report or an existing dashboard that takes too much effort to maintain.

What can a Power BI project include?

The proposal sets out which deliverables are included and how we will check them. A reporting engagement can cover:

• Reporting requirements: the questions, users, reporting periods and decisions the report needs to support.
• Data preparation and modelling: a consistent structure for agreed sources, such as Excel files, SharePoint inputs or SQL data, with checks for missing records and mismatched definitions.
• KPI definitions and calculations: documented rules for measures such as revenue, margin or budget variance, including the costs and adjustments they include.
• Report development: pages, filters and detail views organised around how the intended audience will use the information.
• Validation: reconciliation to agreed source totals and representative records, with differences investigated and remaining limitations recorded.
• Refresh and handover: an agreed update process, access arrangements, documentation and a walkthrough with the people responsible for the report.

Source-system repairs, substantial integration work and additional reporting requirements are identified during scoping and quoted separately where needed.

How the engagement works.

1. Describe the current report. Tell Sam who uses it, which decisions it supports, how often it changes and what is difficult today. We agree how to review sample data and any existing report.
2. Agree the scope and fee. Confirm sources, measures, deliverables, responsibilities, acceptance checks and timing before paid work begins.
3. Build and check together. Review the report with its intended users. Test the calculations and a fresh reporting cycle, and agree any changes to scope.
4. Hand over a maintainable process. Walk through the report, its definitions and update steps. Identify the owner for source changes and refresh issues, and agree any ongoing support separately.

How much does Power BI consulting cost?

Dashboard and reporting work is quoted after reviewing the brief and sample data. The scope depends on source quality, calculation complexity, the reports required and the deployment arrangements. The fee, timing and inclusions are confirmed in your proposal.

If the brief or data needs more investigation, the optional Data & Reporting Review is A$1,500. It includes a stakeholder discussion, assessment of sample data from up to two sources, and a concise roadmap. Dashboard development and data remediation are scoped separately.

You do not need to purchase a Commercial Deep Dive before a Power BI project. All Stratlens fees are in Australian dollars (AUD). GST is not currently charged. Microsoft licences and any additional integration work are identified separately in the proposal.
