From preparation to practice

Make your experience easier to explain.

You may know your work well but struggle to choose the right example, explain your own contribution or keep an answer focused. A mock interview gives us something concrete to work on: how you respond to a question and what a listener can understand from your answer.

Choose relevant examples

Connect the role's requirements to work you have actually done. Select examples that show your decisions, actions and outcomes, and be clear about your contribution within a team.

Structure behavioural answers

Use situation, task, action and result as a practical guide. Give enough context to make the problem understandable, then spend time on what you did and why.

Practise follow-up questions

Work on explaining trade-offs, setbacks and lessons. Identify where an answer needs evidence or clearer reasoning before you use it in an interview.

The focus is agreed around your target role. These are possible areas to practise, rather than a promise to cover every interview topic in one session.

How to prepare for your mock interview.

  1. Start with the role. Share the public job description, the interview format if known and the areas where you would like help. Include your interview date in the enquiry so we can check availability.
  2. Choose two or three examples. Note the challenge, your responsibility, what you did and the result. Use evidence you can accurately discuss; leave out confidential employer or customer information.
  3. Practise aloud. Try a concise version of each example before the session. Notice where you lose the thread, over-explain the background or leave your actions unclear.

During the 90-minute session, we use a mock interview and live debrief to identify useful changes. The one-page scorecard gives you a focused basis for continuing your practice afterwards.

Is this the right coaching for you?

The Interview Intensive is intended for professionals preparing to explain their experience in business, commercial, operations, finance and analytics interviews. It costs A$395 for one 90-minute online session, including a one-page scorecard. GST is not currently charged.

If you need to work through a career decision or improve one part of an application first, Focused Coaching is A$250 for a 60-minute session on an agreed topic. Full CV or cover-letter rewriting is outside these offers.

Do I need to be in Melbourne?

No. Sam is based in Melbourne and the sessions are online. Include your location and availability when you enquire so we can agree a suitable time.

Will this guarantee a job offer?

No. Coaching helps you prepare and practise. Hiring decisions remain with the employer, and depend on the role, your experience and other candidates.

What if my interview is very soon?

Include the date and the kind of interview in your enquiry. Sam will confirm whether there is availability and a useful scope before you book. An enquiry does not reserve a session.

Can I work on technical skills instead?

Yes. For hands-on Excel, Power BI or SQL practice, explore practical data skills coaching. That is a separate offer focused on learning one tool through one task.
